In the twentieth year of Tianhe under the Weining dynasty, the Tianlang tribe repeatedly violated the border, while enemies closed in from within. With insufficient troops, Weining asked its neighboring state, Shengyu, for military aid. Shengyu agreed, but on the condition that Princess Fengpian marry into its royal family.
According to legend, when Princess Fengpian was born, a phoenix circled the Weining palace for three whole days, departing only after her birth.
Emperor Wen was overjoyed and named her Fengpian, cherishing her as the apple of his eye from then on.
Now, though the nation faced a crisis, Emperor Wen still could not bear to part with the princess. After months of stalemate among the three parties, he finally issued the decree.
In the fourth month of the twentieth year of Tianhe, Princess Fengpian was sent to marry into Shengyu. Emperor Wen saw her off with ten miles of red silk, tears streaming down his face.
