His little disciple would often wake up to find himself facing a cold corpse that couldn't smile or speak. Sometimes Duan Li would be gone for just an hour, and sometimes for years. But every time he came back, his little disciple acted as if nothing had changed. So Duan Li, completely oblivious, assumed his little disciple had grown up and become sensible. Then, on the day his disciple came of age, Duan Li shared a jar of wine with him and discovered that he could no longer leave his body.
