On the eve of Ji Chen’s college entrance exams, his father’s company went bankrupt due to poor management, and his father jumped to his death. His mother took her own life with pills, leaving him alone to face the wreckage of his family.
Fortunately, his parents’ friend heard the tragic news and came to help him take care of the funeral arrangements.
A few months later, a baby was born into his parents’ friend’s family and named Chu Suyan.
As Chu Suyan gradually grew up, Ji Chen also built a business of his own. To uncover the truth behind his parents’ deaths and the collapse of the company, he agreed to a marriage of convenience with his friend’s younger sister. Once he had the relevant evidence, he played along with the mastermind behind it all, setting a trap to lure them in.
His parents’ friends’ marriage could not be salvaged, and they eventually chose to divorce. Before leaving the country, they entrusted their daughter, Chu Suyan, to Ji Chen’s care.
From then on, in addition to work and investigating the case, Ji Chen also had to worry about a teenage girl’s studies, daily life, and love life.
As they spent day after day together, he came to understand this forthright, easygoing, sensitive, and proud girl more and more. All he wanted was to protect her from being hurt by her family.
Later, Chu Suyan was accepted into his alma mater. Before the school year began, Ji Chen confessed to her and she accepted. He had already spoken to Suyan’s mother about his feelings. He thought, “This doesn’t count as keeping things secret from her family.”
The revenge Ji Chen had planned was too brutal. To safeguard his future life with Suyan, he revised his plans.
After everything had settled, Chu Suyan, now a medical school graduate, suddenly decided to join a medical aid program in Tibet. Ji Chen knew he could not make her stay, so he let her go.
After Chu Suyan left, Ji Chen spent every day on tenterhooks. One night, he suddenly woke from a nightmare. He called his friend to check, only to learn that an earthquake had struck the Tibetan region where Chu Suyan was stationed, and the medical aid team had been out of contact for six hours.
Ji Chen rushed to the earthquake zone that very night with a large supply of provisions. After an anxious and dangerous search, he finally found Chu Suyan, buried beneath the rubble for three days.
In Ji Chen’s trembling embrace, Chu Suyan let go of the doubts and guilt that had weighed on her for days and faced their feelings anew.
“You were born before I was born; when I was born, you were already old. I regret we weren’t born at the same time, so I could be with you every day.”
“I was born before you were born; when you were born, I was already old. I’m as far from you as the ends of the earth, while you’re across the sea from me.”
Original work by the author. Do not borrow ideas. Title and blurb written on [2018.5.16]
The author has frequent bouts of brain gremlins, and the writing style is often inconsistent. I have no writing skill, and the plot is mindless. I don’t support people bashing this kind of setup, so if you don’t like it, feel free to move along.
But this is my first book, and no matter how bad it is, I’m going to finish it.
Theme: Set a troubled girl straight
Great!!!! Come on, please update more!
It feels quite natural to me. Who said the protagonist should take up the entire story? The supporting characters are also alive! Li eyes, mine!
Li's eyes are so cute, oooh, oh, give me Li's eyes
Me too, that's what happens during the holidays
Su Chu and his wife are so sweet
This Ji Chen is so stupid.
Hey, Ji Chen is shy
A noob like me who can't hold back a word (covers my face) is not qualified to say "big". It's very brave and great to dare to write "big". Come on, grow up quickly!
Li's eyes are the cutest in the world!
Come on! I really want them to be together.
