The Rules for Raising Fuzzballs

The Heli Desert revealed the civilization of a lost ancient kingdom. Among the many artifacts reported unearthed was an ancient hedgehog. No one knew how it had survived to this day.

The hedgehog was like a little ball of fluff, a bit silly. It ran and ran in the wrong direction, straight into His Majesty's palm.

According to the observation report, the little hedgehog had blurry vision, moved slowly, loved to sleep, and, most importantly, was difficult to care for. So the responsibility of raising it fell to Xiao Shen.

Everyone in the desert was raising this hedgehog vicariously online. Its very existence came with a halo.

His Majesty bought the hedgehog a deluxe pet cage, but it was too big, and the hedgehog got lonely. The tiny ball of spikes curled up in a corner, becoming a little ball of loneliness and self-isolation.

His Majesty bought the hedgehog the most expensive cat food and canned food, but the little fluffball had a delicate stomach and made a mess everywhere after eating.

His Majesty was busy all day and had no time to keep it company. Neglected in its cage, staring blankly at its toys, the hedgehog would flare up its spikes at the drop of a hat. It was tiny, but fierce.

Later, Heli netizens gathered in His Majesty's livestream and watched him expertly stroke the fluffball's spines, massage its soft pink belly with his fingertips, and bathe the little fluffball floating on the water with a tiny brush.

One day, His Majesty held a little beauty in his arms. The beauty was timid, had blurry vision, moved slowly, and loved to curl up in His Majesty's arms and sleep. It looked expensive and difficult to care for.

Everyone: Why does this little beauty seem so familiar?

A little scene:

The yellow sands stretched endlessly beneath a blood-red sunset. Qiuren sat barefoot in front of a shop on a bustling street, drinking milk tea.

A commotion broke out at the end of the street. A man approached at an unhurried pace, his narrow, deep-set eyes flashing with affectionate reproach. The onlookers only saw His Majesty holding a pair of shoes.

Qiuren had a terrible sense of direction and ran too slowly, so no matter where he went, Xiao Shen could always catch him.

He wanted to hide his milk tea, but realized he had hidden the wrong thing, and hurriedly shoved his left hand behind his back.

Xiao Shen pretended not to see the mealworms and canned cat food in the bag Qiuren was hiding behind his back.

"Xiao Shen..."

His noble Majesty gazed tenderly at his national-treasure hedgehog and smiled like a spring breeze. "Next time you go out without shoes, I'll throw away all your mealworms and canned cat food."

Qiuren slowly realized the meaning of this heartfelt threat: "...?!"
