Legend has it that Guan Yu, a great general of the Later Han, was originally the Dragon Lord of Pushui in Shanxi. Unable to bear the loneliness, he would often transform into a handsome young man and play chess for fun with Qing Ci, the abbot of the Three Purities Temple in Pushui County.
