A Dream Beneath the Moonlight

Beneath the intoxicating moonlight,

roses bloom in all their splendor.

Who can escape the moon’s enchantment?

He tells her of every beautiful thing,

she tells him the cruel truths of the world.

It’s not that he doesn’t know,

he would rather take the truth

for a dream,

and use his smile to warm

everything cruel.
