Fragrance of the Herb Cottage (Yang Jian Fanfiction)

Original female lead, BG, first-person. Bad ending.

To be precise, this is a Yang Jian fanfic based on Lotus Lantern.

It borrows from Episode 27 and the finale of Lotus Lantern. In this version, Yang Jian falls on hard times and receives the female lead's care. In the finale, a misunderstanding that isn't cleared up in time leaves Yang Jian gravely injured.

My childhood impression of Lotus Lantern is mostly Jiao Enjun's face and the twist that the villainous boss, someone I'd never seen before, could still be redeemed. Yang Jian really is a responsible, wonderful man... What a shame that, to the very end, there wasn't even a hint of romance... His interactions with Chang'e don't count. Chang'e is too cold and isn't right for Second Brother. So, for the childhood idol of my dreams, I wrote this story.

The amnesia potion erasing Yang Jian's memories of the female lead is both a sweet point and an angst point. Their brief encounter could have left behind some memories, but because of the female lead's actions, nothing remains. That's another source of angst.

I don't want Yang Jian to remember in the ending. That feeling of wistful loss is exactly what I want to express.
