Blurb:
After evening study, with night falling, Miao Siyu followed her secret crush, Zhao Yuwei, for three blocks. She kept going until she had parted ways with each of the friends walking with him. The drink can he'd finished slipped from his hand and fell to the ground instead of into a trash can, and he disappeared into an apartment building.
Acting on impulse, Miao Siyu went to pick up the can, only to be caught red-handed when the man turned around.
Zhao Yuwei leaned against a nearby pillar and asked lazily, "Kid, how long have you been following me?"
Miao Siyu's outstretched hand trembled slightly. Under the pressure of his gaze, she forced herself to stand up and joked, "It's not easy to pick up trash these days. Now people are even accusing me of erotomania."
The man leaning against the pillar visibly slid down when he heard that.
Years later, at an alumni reunion, Zhao Yuwei's classmates teased the woman who'd finally become his wife: "So... how did he win you over?"
Miao Siyu panicked. Just as she was trying to figure out how to save face, Zhao Yuwei, usually unflappable, came to his wife's rescue. He simply said, "My teeth aren't up to it. I wanted someone to keep me."
Hearing this from a man worth billions, everyone present wore an odd expression.
Miao Siyu played along: "Right. I said I'd pick up trash to support him."

In Miao Siyu's memories, Zhao Yuwei was always playing basketball, giving speeches, winning physics competitions, or appearing on the honor roll for the college entrance exams.
She never imagined that one day he'd look like this: his expression unreadable behind rimless glasses, his long-fingered hand trembling slightly after being burned by a spark, the lazy disdain on his face seeming deliberately meant for her. Neither of them made the first move to speak.
After Miao Siyu stubbornly held out until midnight, that self-important man finally lowered his head. In a secluded corner, he wrapped an arm around her waist, forcing his exhausted body to keep going as he pleaded, tipsy and petulant, "Can't you just give in a little?"
