A flight of fancy inspired by the beloved character Aoi no Ue from the anime The Millennium-Old Tale of Genji.
Aoi no Ue was Genji's first wife, but various reasons kept them at odds. Though they finally opened their hearts to each other, she died because of one of Genji's fiercely jealous mistresses, ending the last chance Prince Genji might have had to return to his family.
As someone who loves first wives, I really hope to make up for some of the regrets. The changes won't be too significant, and the original work will be respected.
1. This story borrows plot elements from The Tale of Genji (translated by Feng Zikai), The Millennium Mystery of The Tale of Genji, and The Millennium-Old Tale of Genji.
2. The original author, Murasaki Shikibu, was extremely fond of the Tang poet Bai Juyi. This story pays tribute to him by quoting his poems in several places, including in its title.
3. The character arcs of Suzakuin and Abe no Seimei aren't meant to be examined too closely. They're flights of fancy, but the changes are minor.
4. All text within square brackets is quoted from Feng Zikai's translation. Parentheses contain descriptions of details that may raise questions.
Theme:
I am very impressed by this animation. The voice actor of Genji Hikari is Takahiro Sakurai. His cool and elegant voice is simply amazing!! Some of Guang Genji's behaviors are really fascinating, but I don't think he is a scumbag. The word scumbag is too vulgar and not worthy of this male god who sometimes makes me dislike him. . .
In fact, I like Thousand Years of Love more than Thousand Years of Love. Yuki Amami perfectly expresses the magnificence of Genji Hikaru.
Sigh... Very uncomfortable. Thinking of her
Is this another tragic ending? Aoihime can't even wait for Genji to be exiled?
I hope Mrs. Aoi can have a happy ending. . .
The people Suzakuin likes (Aoihime, Saimiya) can never be found, which is very pitiful.
Why are you here to make me cry?
Suddenly I want to read the story of the two of them in their next life. Aoi is so sorry in this life.
The big pig's hooves are so cruel!
It's because I watched The Tale of Genji that I fell in love with bat fans. I have so many of them at home...
