Cultivation: The Alchemist

Before the alchemist exam: Yu Jin is full of confidence, ready to beat up Bailian Peak, trample the Road of Heart-Testing, and sing his way to the heavens.

After the alchemist exam: Average aptitude, failed at alchemy, demoted to a menial disciple overnight.

Under the mocking gazes of his fellow disciples, Yu Jin stays calm and unshaken. Since I've only just arrived in the cultivation world, I should keep a low profile.

But in private, he grits his teeth in fury. I'm clearly a peerless genius. Which bastard did this to me?

Han, the bastard in question, says cryptically, "One pitfall wasn't enough, so here's another."

And so Yu Jin stumbles from one pitfall into the next. When he's finally covered in bumps and bruises, he looks up at the heavens and cries, "Who did I offend? Which big shot is after me? Please, let me live."

The big shot Han: "There is no way out."

Yu Jin: "I'm so mad, but I still have to smile."

A single powerful backer.

Yu Jin leaps into his arms, overjoyed and in tears. "Please let me cling to you!"

The big shot Han only smiles and says nothing.

A scheming, deep-minded top who hides a blade behind his smile VS an easygoing, hardworking bottom

In a nutshell: A reborn top treats the bottom like a mini-boss and, halfway through the fight, discovers that the mini-boss is his wife. He can only kneel on a washboard and beg forgiveness. After sorting out their past-life business and joining forces to defeat the real boss, the two set off on the Great Dao together, sharing the path to immortality.
