In the fourteenth year of the Tianbao era, An Lushan rebelled. The Great Tang dynasty began to decline, the people suffered, and the beautiful land was devastated.
The following year, Gu Yu, also known as Xuanxu Zi, a disciple of Lu Dongbin of the Pure Yang Palace, bid farewell to his close friend at the Cangjian Manor and set out for Chang'an.
In June of that year, Chang'an fell.
When he opened his eyes again, Daoist Gu found himself in a different world.
