Li Xunhuan gets caught up in a political struggle hiding a shocking secret, and Chu Liuxiang helps him escape. First, let’s sort out the timeline. Their meetings happen in reverse order. At thirty-eight, his cousin is gravely ill when he meets Chu Liuxiang. This is Chu Liuxiang and Li Xunhuan’s first meeting, but not Li Xunhuan’s. At twenty-eight, his cousin meets Chu Liuxiang. This is their second meeting. At eighteen, his cousin meets Chu Liuxiang. This is their third meeting. By Chu Liuxiang’s reckoning, he and Li Xunhuan are already confidants, but for Li Xunhuan, it is their first meeting. The story adds an original plot to The Legend of Chu Liuxiang. I really don’t dare bring Li Xunhuan into other Gu Long stories. I’m afraid I wouldn’t do the characters justice. Lately, I’ve been fawning over my cousin’s face on Bilibili.
