"Nian Nu Jiao," by the Song dynasty poet Wu Jing
Original:
We regret meeting so late, though who could have known
That parting and separation would come so soon?
It isn't that we lack affection; it's only that
The ties of meeting and parting are hard to predict.
Translation: It's a regret that we met so late. Everyone experiences both reunion and separation. It's not that we lack affection; it's just that no one can predict when we'll meet or part.
Heroine: Quick-witted, brave, and devoted.
Hero: A white lotus, ruthless, and hungry for power.
The main story has a bad ending; the bonus chapters have a happy ending.
