Darling, Little Prey

The night stretches on endlessly, and I lie in wait in the darkness.

Quietly, I wait.

I wait for you to appear.

The first time I saw you, I knew you would eventually be mine.

Black hair, a lovely face, and a hint of resolve in your eyes.

How perfect... my little prey.

I set down the knife in my hand, washed the dried blood from between my fingers, and smiled at myself in the mirror.

Darling, you are mine.

School, stores, cafes,

Hospitals, bookstores, movie theaters.

I think of you over and over,

And follow close behind you time and again.

I walk every street you have ever walked,

And taste every breath of air you have ever breathed.

I know everything about you.

There's a man by your side. How noisy...

One, two, three...

So many men surrounding you. How noisy...

Why is it so noisy?

What should I do?

Then I'll just have them all die.

Three, two, one...

At last, they're all taken care of.

Now there's only you.

The game begins.

Are you ready?

My dear little prey.
