After I Was Buried Alive, Someone Dug Me Out of the Tomb

Yan Lu's true form is a little sika deer with snow-white fur. When he came of age and took human form, his keeper, Shen Zhi, Prince Guangping and known as the God of War, had only a few days left to live. But Shen Zhi couldn't bear to part with the beloved little deer he'd raised for more than a decade. Even as he lay dying, he insisted that Yan Lu be buried with him. In a daze, Yan Lu was buried in the tomb in Shen Zhi's arms. He slept on, until after the land had fallen and the dynasty had collapsed. When he woke again, people had dug him out of the tomb. He had become a paragon of loyalty and righteousness, a legend passed down by all, and the faith followed by every official at court! The moment he stepped outside, he saw the emperor and a whole line of court officials waiting to discuss the great principles of statecraft with him. Yan Lu hid in the imperial ancestral temple, lips tightly pursed, afraid to make a sound in case the emperor outside heard him! Heaven knew that when Prince Guangping raised him, all he did was wake up, open his mouth to be fed, and lie down to have his back stroked and be soothed to sleep when he was tired. How was he supposed to know how to govern a country? Yet the new emperor waiting outside the door smiled, as if he could see through the thick door to the treasure inside, the one he had protected for a thousand years.
