I Miss You So Much Today

When Jin Tian first met Ying Ze, she thought she had never seen anyone in the world so handsome, so poor, and so determined.

He lived in the shabbiest neighborhood, played the most expensive esports game, and pulled off the most incredible plays.

What an inspiring esports legend!

So, out of kindness, she took the "legend" in every day.

Until one day...

She saw his luxury apartment in the heart of downtown, in one of the city's most expensive neighborhoods.

Jin Tian: Heh. What a jerk.

Turns out I'm the only one who's poor :)

[Bonus Scene]

One day, Jin Tian is invited to an in-person event being livestreamed to the entire internet.

Hundreds of miles away, a livestream of the event is playing at a certain club's training base.

The host reads out the guests' names, and Jin Tian takes the stage.

She wears a strapless evening gown, fitted at the hips and dramatically low-backed, revealing her smooth, rounded shoulders.

With one casual glance, someone pauses with his hand on the mouse. His usually perfect headshot goes wide.

A teammate casually jokes over the game chat, "What's going on, Zephyr? Losing focus?"

For once, he answers, speaking without a hint of urgency:

"I am."

*1. The game is PUBG.

2. The focus is on romance.

-Advance preview of The Briefest Flicker of Love:

Wen Fanyi's life had gone smoothly until she, a gaming novice, met Bian Ran at an esports event and became his sidekick for two months.

When people hear the name God Ran, they picture a face as cold as a glacier, year after year.

Asked about his ideal type, everyone says, "We don't know what he likes, but he definitely wouldn't go for someone as dazzling as Wen Fanyi."

Later, everyone notices that the sidekick who used to follow Bian Ran has disappeared.

Meanwhile, rumors linking rising actress Wen Fanyi to a top young actor are in full swing.

At the year's end, an esports gala is livestreamed to the entire internet.

In an exhibition match between a celebrity team and a professional team, the celebrity team is wiped out by the opposing captain, Bian Ran. The top young actor is so thoroughly crushed that he wants to quit the game.

Amid the complaints and curses, the celebrity team belatedly realizes that their captain, Wen Fanyi, is completely unscathed. She even managed to hit Bian Ran.

Celebrity team: ???

Professional team: ???

Wen Fanyi: ???

After the exhibition match, nosy reporters bring up how the two of them met.

Wen Fanyi looks stunning in an elegant gown. Her expression is cool, and her answer is as official as can be: "We met a few times through work. We're not very close."

After the event, in the quiet of night, Wen Fanyi spots a man standing beside her van.

He stubs out the cigarette in his hand and walks over, his crisp, cool presence surrounding her. "So we're not close, is that it?"

There's another novel in my upcoming works list, too.
