The Dragon Clan's First Covenant

Bai Huo found a dragon egg at the foot of a mountain. As luck would have it, the egg hatched right in front of him. At dawn, by the lakeside, a furry little head poked out through the broken shell, and a pair of bright, round eyes met Bai Huo’s gaze. No one knew that the wheels of fate had quietly begun to turn at that very moment. Bai Huo tilted his head to the left, and the little dragon mirrored him. Bai Huo turned right, and the little dragon tilted its head to the right. This is one hell of an imprinting instinct... If Bai Huo still couldn’t figure out what was going on, then he’d have wasted his past hundred-odd years. What else could he do? Take the little thing home and raise it. From its first meal, its first words... all the way to its first flight. Bai Huo indulged it, and grew more and more attached. Many years later, Li Linxi shielded the badly injured Bai Huo behind him and said, helpless yet commanding, “Stay right there.”

Bai Huo finally realized that the little one he’d raised seemed to have changed somehow. Younger-man-and-older-man raising romance, angsty melodrama, happy ending. Modern alternate setting.
