The Age of Mechanical Men

After developing artificial intelligence, humanity hoped to combine the human brain with mechanical organs to overcome the body's limitations. Their attempt to create "metal life" failed, producing the "Mechfolk," whose organs can turn into metal and freely change shape.

Faced with their formidable abilities and centuries-long lifespans, humans began hunting them down and wiping them out.

Hua Jiu, an orphan who came from the Divine Mountain into the world, acquired "metal life" in an accident.

With his friends and elders unaware of the truth, and a war instigated by the Mechfolk, the distant fires of battle are destined to sweep into Hua Jiu's life.

When the gods fall silent and the wise say nothing;

when good and evil intertwine, and pure and murky become indistinguishable;

if nothing can begin again, can I sever every path that has been laid out in advance?

The year Yu An turned four, three-year-old Hua Jiu saved him. They spent the next seven years together at the general's residence.

"Big brother, I'm hungry."

"Big brother, boohoo, I broke another plate."

"All right, I'll do as you say, big brother."

Yu An thought he had the cutest, sweetest, most obedient little brother in the world. All his tenderness, thoughtfulness, and affection had grown from spending time with Hua Jiu.

Then, when Hua Jiu was ten, his mentor from the Holy Court took him away. They met again five years later, and the once sweet, soft, and obedient little brother had become a bold young man with a roguish smile.

"Bro, seriously? You don't know how to do this?"

"Hey, don't worry, bro. I've got this."

"Bro, why haven't you found a girlfriend yet?" His handsome but wicked grin nearly sent the general's son berserk.

He felt the Holy Court owed him an explanation. Where had his once adorable, obedient little brother gone?! But no matter how Hua Jiu changed, Yu An still had him eating out of his hand!

When Hua Jiu was three, his spontaneous act of kindness saved Yu An. From the earliest memories he could recall, Yu An had always been there.

"Cake will make all your teeth fall out."

"Listen to me."

"Don't cry, sweetheart."

When they met again at fifteen, Hua Jiu thought, Huh, why does the brother who used to be so gentle seem so scary now? Did I do something wrong?

Actually, he hadn't. He'd simply been too young and naive to realize that his big brother had always had him eating out of his hand. :)

After all, Hua Jiu had spent all these years crushing on no one but Yu An. And his big brother, with eighteen special ways to flirt, was quite the schemer, hehe.
