Divorced Men and Women

I mainly wrote this story to give Li Dakang and Ouyang Jing, a middle-aged couple full of resentment, a happy ending.

I also couldn't help thinking that an official like Li Dakang having the time to marry a wife in her early twenties and spend all day being lovey-dovey with her instead of working would be a recipe for career suicide.

But then again, if he weren't a 54-year-old party secretary but a 54-year-old successful businessman, and if he met Ouyang Jing, who was around his age and also divorced, not in Jingzhou but in a city like Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou, perhaps, maybe, they could have been a well-matched and interesting couple whose old flame was reignited...
