Died Too Soon

Real life has gotten busy, so it's hard to get back into the writing groove I had before, and I can't guarantee regular updates. I've decided to remove the paywall and refund subscriptions. I'll resume regular updates if I find my inspiration again. New readers, proceed with caution. - Luo Xisui wants to resist her family's pressure to marry, so she casually tells her parents that she's in love with Master Fu Zhe. She barely knows the man. She's only heard that he's gravely ill and close to death, so she borrows his name, pretending to be so consumed by love that she'd die for her beloved, and feigning an attempt to drown herself. Her parents are so frightened that they never dare bring up marriage again, afraid she'll do something rash and try to marry a dead man. Li Zhao, who is in love with Luo Xisui, hears that she jumped into the river for love and promptly throws himself in after her. He never expected his lingering soul to possess Fu Zhe. When he wakes up, he discovers that Luo Xisui is still alive and well. Li Zhao/Fu Zhe: I died too soon. Luo Xisui's parents hear that the gravely ill Fu Zhe didn't die, and that he's getting healthier and more successful by the day. They immediately visit his family to arrange a match for their daughter, fulfilling one of her wishes. Luo Xisui steadies herself after a moment of panic: It doesn't matter. He doesn't even know me. There's no way he'll agree. Her parents: He agreed right away. He even ran out after us to add one more thing... Fu Zhe: Put it in writing. Eventually, Luo Xisui can no longer keep up the pretense and goes to see Fu Zhe. Luo Xisui: I can't marry you. Break off the engagement. Luo Xisui: I've already given my heart to someone. He's just dead now. Fu Zhe: Could the person you like be...? Luo Xisui: His name was Li Zhao. He was my childhood friend. -Mutual pining. Little skit: Fu Zhe: I'm Li Zhao. Luo Xisui: You think you're funny? You think I'll marry you just because you say that? Fu Zhe: I really am Li Zhao. Luo Xisui: Prove it. Fu Zhe: Good question. How do I prove that I am me?
