The Cat Takes You Away, You Stay

1. A few days after school started, a sweet, soft-spoken girl transferred into the class. Watching Tang Li at the front of the classroom, Zhou Ting unexpectedly remembered the way she had smiled at him the night before while holding his cat. She was just as sweet and gentle as she was now, so sweet that, in a moment of inexplicable impulse, he had left his ID card at her doorstep. 2. As Tang Li petted the cat, she happened to notice that Zhou Ting, sitting across from her, hadn't written a single word of his homework for ages. Instead, he was staring at her. She thought for a moment, then lifted the kitten in both hands and asked him softly, "Want to pet it?" Zhou Ting snapped out of it. His expression softened, and he replied in a low voice, "I do." Tang Li obediently held the cat up, but the next second, the hand reaching toward her landed on the top of her head and gently ruffled her hair.
