Lin Monan is the younger son of one of the heroine's father's comrades-in-arms in the old-school angst novel The School Bully's Little Sweetheart, a story that heaps suffering on both body and soul. But after the male lead mistakenly believes Lin Monan is harassing the heroine, Lin's fingers are crushed in a comminuted fracture. A surgeon, he is forced to leave the operating table he loves most.
After Ye Lexue finished reading the entire novel her roommate had recommended, she sighed, "That male supporting character is completely an innocent victim. Both the hero and heroine have serious issues. Can't someone save him? He's destined to become the top surgeon in the country."
Then she woke up as a plot device the male lead uses to make the heroine jealous during one of their misunderstandings.
Thinking of what happens to plot devices in the novel, either their families are destroyed or they're sold off to Southeast Asia, she just wants to hold on to her Study and Sign-in System, study hard, keep the male lead from injuring his hand, and stay far away from the two leads.
When Ye Lexue's parents saw their daughter starting to study hard, they found it a little strange.
When they saw her get into the best medical school in the country, they were shocked.
When they saw several of her papers published in internationally authoritative journals, they could hardly believe it.
When they saw her standing at a medical conference, presenting her latest findings to doctors from across the country, they wondered if they were dreaming.
Then their daughter brought Lin Monan home. Was it because her future son-in-law studied medicine?
