Xu Shuyao died. Xu Shuyao's soul was mistakenly taken.
There were two people named Xu Shuyao. Xu Shuyao A was the heroine of a sweet romance novel, while Xu Shuyao B was a cannon-fodder character in a story about a fake heiress and a real heiress.
The underworld messenger was supposed to take Xu Shuyao B's soul, but accidentally took Xu Shuyao A's instead.
To make up for the employee's mistake, the underworld had no choice but to put Xu Shuyao A's soul into Xu Shuyao B's body. They also gave her a paper effigy shop and made her an externally assigned underworld official.
Xu Shuyao looked after her desolate paper effigy shop, with no interest in catching ghosts. All she wanted was to make money.
So the paper effigy shop put up a new sign:
1. Video calls between the living and the dead: 1,000 yuan per minute
2. Blind dates for single men and women ghosts: 9,999 underworld coins per couple
3. One-day tours of the human world for ghosts: 666 underworld coins per person
4. ...
