The Ghost Looked Like It Had Seen Me

In these chaotic times, life is hard not only for the living, but for the dead as well. As a wandering ghost, Jiang Jinyue spends every day dodging Taoist priests who pursue her from all sides. Her greatest wish is to hurry off and be reincarnated. She’d even accept being reborn as an animal. The underworld official in charge of reincarnation flipped through the Book of Life and Death and told her in distress, “That won’t work. So many people have died over the past two years that there’s barely room for all the ghosts waiting at the reincarnation gate. The underworld is in utter chaos, so the higher-ups decided to give priority to those who find substitutes to die in their place... What? You want to be reborn as an animal? Don’t be silly. According to the rules, you don’t meet the requirements. Either you find a few substitutes like the others, or you kill some living people who were supposed to die of old age, then come back to be reborn as an animal.” Jiang Jinyue, who never harmed anyone in life or after death: “...This is so hard.” Duan Lingxu: Damn it, after hiding and running away for all these years, what was it all for? Jiang Jinyue: ...For me, of course.
