Kudo Junchun is the younger brother of Japan's top high school detective. He's seven years old, and currently experiencing his fifth life.

In his second life, his older brother was an incredible sorcerer. He gently read him bedtime stories, bought him toys and lollipops, and prepared a warm birthday party for him every year.
The rebellious sorcerer trampled the blood of his kin beneath his feet. The young child died on the eve of his eighth birthday, but the birthday rhyme still echoed through this nightmare from which no one would wake.

In his fourth life, his big tiger of a brother was kicked out of the house for sneaking into the vegetable patch and stealing food. Worried that his brother would go hungry, Junchun took the last few carrots in the house and set out for Yokohama to find him.

Now Junchun is about to celebrate his eighth birthday for the fifth time. He'll soon meet his new older brother from his sixth life.
