Based on this statement and the related scenes, I believe Ziying truly loves Mengli, not Lingsha. I can't bear to see my beloved Ziying remain lonely until old age, nor can I bear to see Mengli end up with Tianhe, who has already given his heart to Lingsha. That's why I wrote this story.
The story takes place during the century after Mengli's departure. It won't stray too far from the events of The Legend of Sword and Fairy IV, and the original ending animation will remain unchanged, but Ziying and Mengli will get a happy ending.
