Xia Ji, daughter of Duke Mu of Zheng during the Spring and Autumn period.
Historical reputation: She was queen three times and a consort seven times.
She was as cruel as a snake or scorpion, and every man connected to her met an early death.
Her remarkable achievements included killing three husbands, a king, and a son, and bringing down a kingdom and two ministers.
Amid the chaos of war, she was passed from one place to another, and wherever she went, another kingdom fell.
She was the most dangerous femme fatale, yet men still coveted her beauty and betrayed their country for her.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ [Chapter Excerpt]~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
When the state of Chen fell, Qu Wu once rebuked her sharply: "I won't let you continue to bring ruin to Great Chu."
For the sake of the Great Chu he served, he had invoked the immorality of the match to stop King Zhuang of Chu from taking her as a consort.
Later, he successfully talked the powerful minister Zi Fan out of marrying her by warning him that she would bring him an early death.
But in the end, he married her himself.
He said, "Marrying Xia Ji is immoral. Immoral, I know, and I accept it. Marrying her means an early death. An early death, so be it!"
In short, he was like a blind man with sore eyes, throwing caution to the wind!
He even betrayed Great Chu for her!
