A Long-Awaited Reunion

As a boy, the imperfect Jiang Feng fell for the perfect Xu Jiu.

As adults, the imperfect Xu Jiu is still loved by the perfect Jiang Feng.

A slow-paced, understated story about growing up and waiting, featuring a battalion commander and a teacher.

If someone asked Xu Jiu, "What kind of person is Jiang Feng?" she'd say, "An arrogant man."

Extremely arrogant.

The moment he transferred to her school in his first year of high school, he led a protest against the school's rule forbidding girls from having long hair.

At a school assembly, he was made to give a self-criticism, and shouted into the microphone, "Xu Jiu, I love you!"

He went abroad for further study at university, then came back halfway through to summon her almost-fiancé and threaten to cripple him if he ever treated her badly.

If asked again, "Doesn't Jiang Feng have any good qualities?"

Xu Jiu would answer without hesitation, "He's a coward."

If she said no, he wouldn't even dare touch the hem of her clothes.

Of course, that only applied when he hadn't been drinking.

For example, on the night of their ten-year high school reunion, he pinned her against the wall. His rugged, handsome face, with its unmistakable military bearing, drew close. His alcohol-scented breath brushed hot against her lips as he gritted his teeth and whispered, "You lied and told me you were married?"
