Q: Isn’t the Pope forbidden from marrying? A: That’s why we’re only dating, not getting married.
The thing Su Xi regrets most in her life is that her hand slipped while choosing a mission, sending her into a medieval map in a parallel world. This medieval world, made up of the Church, kingdoms, knights, witches, magic, and pagans, reached its height under the rule of Pope Eli. But few people knew that Pope Eli had once given up power, dignity, faith, and even his life for an Eastern woman. Many years later, while sorting through the Pope’s belongings, people discovered a letter. It read:
To Eli:
You are the person I love most, and the person I hate most.
Su Xi
P.S. 1. For ease of reading, no character’s name will be longer than three syllables, and most will be two.
2. This story is set in a fairy-tale version of medieval Europe. Please don’t compare it to the real Middle Ages.
3. The story follows two timelines. One is full of sweet moments, while the other is sweet with a bitter aftertaste.
4. Historical research is welcome, but malicious slander is absolutely not!
