[Apocalypse] Even If the World Is Destroyed

In the 29th century, after the Seventh Technological Revolution, human science and technology reached its peak. Two technologies in particular brought humanity tremendous benefits. One was artificial intelligence, and the other was cryogenic preservation of living people.

In the 21st century, when cryogenic preservation was still imperfect, Dr. Lin Erdong became the first person in the world to volunteer for the procedure.

Using the crude technology of the time, he and his old friend Xu Cha built Jackfruit No. 8 and programmed it to wake him up. Back then, the thing had no human form. It could only perform simple movements according to its programming, just a hunk of metal without intelligence.

After sleeping for several centuries, Lin Erdong woke up and discovered that Jackfruit No. 8 was standing before him again, now wearing Xu Cha's face.

From that moment on, Lin Erdong's life began moving again.

From Jackfruit No. 8, he learned that more than thirty years earlier, a massive meteorite had struck Earth. Several months later, many "aliens" who looked exactly like humans emerged from it.

Were they our kindred?

Jackfruit No. 8 said expressionlessly, "The world has been destroyed."
