In her third year abroad, Chi Mian endured scorn and cold shoulders.

She withdrew from the POYI competition in disarray, as if she had reached a dead end. In an endless abyss, she kept falling.

After submitting an application for a six-month leave of absence from school, she finally took a series of photographs at the Uyuni Salt Flat and won the Hasselblad International Photography Award, making a name for herself overnight.

At the awards ceremony, her acceptance speech was formal and polite, without a hint of emotion.

But when she later uploaded the photos to Twitter, she captioned them:

“The road of life is long. I'm glad I once walked it alone.”

Years later, the person she'd loved as a girl crossed through the screen and became close enough to touch.

His gaze reached her through wind and mist, then held her fast.
