In the year XXXX of the Common Era, the war against the historical revisionists grew increasingly fierce.

To bolster their forces, the government began recruiting powerful spirit users from among nonhumans to serve as Saniwa. But since some nonhuman Saniwa possessed excessively powerful yokai abilities, they were forbidden from taking any action that would directly interfere in battle, to avoid causing unnecessary changes to history. They could only direct the fighting from behind a spirit barrier specially erected by the government. Anyone who violated this rule would trigger the lightning system in the time-space transport device. Any injuries or deaths would be their own responsibility.
