Chen (Shen), the last purple qilin in the world, master of the Fallen Stars and king of all beasts, was struck by lightning and sent to the Bitter Realm.
Chen Lin never thought she had done anything wrong in her life, yet heavenly retribution was always out to get her.
When she came of age, an unexpected tenth bolt struck amid the nine bolts of thunder. She was sent to the Bitter Realm. That alone would have been bad enough, but she also became a human's contracted beast. And that still wasn't the worst of it: she was actually eaten by a dragon with a huge tail!
Chen Lin: Hmph! Humans.
