[Brotherhood of Blades] The Way of the World

[For Pei Lun] This was Du Ruo's first impression of Pei Lun. A former Jinyiwei officer. Just hearing that title made him sound like someone you shouldn't mess with. Though when he smiled, he looked as kind as an old man who'd caught the smell of dinner on his way home. "Miss, could I have one of the candied fruits you made?" "Doctor Du, this fruit wine smells wonderful." "Miss Du, could you tear off a piece of bacon for me, too?" "Du Ruo, bring me your chili sauce. I want to brush some on this." "Ruoruo, have you ground the spices we just picked? My fish is already grilled!" No matter how formidable he was, surely he could be dealt with over a meal. Du Ruo glanced sideways at Pei Lun, who was grinning like an idiot with a pile of wild fruit bundled up in his clothes, and thought to herself. "If you could change the world as it is, what would you do?" Eat, sleep, gather herbs, study medical books, and earn a little money treating patients. And only then, fall in love with you.
