When we meet on the road, how can we know each other? Better to meet and never see again.
The dashing Gao Shuli is gone, leaving only Boss Zhong, content to keep to his little corner of the world.
But when May's catkins drift through Liucheng, the young men of the Lu family always come back to haunt him.
I fell in love with you during our three years apart,
then spent three years running away to forget you.
In the end, all the melodramatic twists of a soap opera play out in our lives. Do we dare to wager our whole lives on each other?
The sun is setting, the sun is setting. Why don't you come home? If not for your sake, why am I stuck in the mud?
Updated daily, sometimes twice a day. Warning: A fluffy, light urban romance involving the advertising industry, with an extremely melodramatic plot and plenty of cliched tropes, including car accidents, serious illness, and taboo relationships. I even hesitated for a while over whether to rename it "Spicy Offal Stew," but now that I've written it, it feels quite mild. This is a work written with little research, so I hope you'll offer your corrections.
I seem to be terrible at naming things. The title "Shiwe" had already been used too often, so I changed it to "If Not for Your Sake." It means the same thing anyway.
The story is complete! Many thanks to Lu Shijun and Zhong Shuli for their wonderful performances (clap, clap~)
The hook for this story came from a line I saw on Weibo one day: "What makes you think you can compare yourself to her?" The opening scene immediately came to mind, and the story followed from there. Life itself is dreary. When you cry your heart out over some feeling, your tears and snot don't make you look more miserable; they just make you look ugly. Zhong and Lu are merely ordinary side characters among countless fictional people. As I tried my hardest to strip the drama from the prose, their ordinary nature inevitably showed through. They meet, part, and meet again like ordinary people. Occasionally they say a few cringey lines you'd expect from novel characters, but most of the time they worry over mundane things like who has to wash the dishes in the sink, whether a shirt can go in the washing machine, and strange internet censorship rules. But sometimes, knowing you have someone you love and someone who loves you can make you a little more patient with life.
May everyone find an interesting soul amid life's dreariness.

It's a bit of a joke, but the author is not a novice! Don't belittle yourself! The writing is great!
