The Moment I See You

Meng Shuyao went to meet the parents with the boyfriend she'd been dating for three months after being introduced by a matchmaker. She raised a glass of juice to make the rounds, when a man walked toward them.

"Shuyao, this is my uncle, Cheng Yu." Cheng Yu was famous throughout the industry, and her boyfriend was quite proud of him.

"Hello." Meng Shuyao came back to herself, composing her expression and doing her best to pretend they were meeting for the first time.

To her surprise, the man swirled his wineglass, a hint of arrogance on his face. "So you're getting married?"

Her boyfriend answered for her. "Yeah, my mom wants us to make it official next month."

Cheng Yu glanced at Meng Shuyao. "You're willing to let him go?"

His words had a double meaning.

Meng Shuyao smiled sweetly. "My ex taught me before he was buried: people should learn to be content. I think it's pretty good advice."

Cheng Yu, her ex, who'd just been "buried": ...

Synopsis 2:

When Meng Shuyao had nowhere left to turn, Cheng Yu took her in. At last, she glimpsed a dazzling light through the shadows of her life. She clung to him sweetly, nestled against him tenderly, and made him the center of her world.

Who could have guessed that Cheng Yu was so dark and twisted? He treated her as nothing more than a plaything, teasing her now and then while looking down on her inside.

At a dinner party, Meng Shuyao went to bring him some stomach medicine. Hiding behind the curtains on the balcony, she heard him and his friends talking about her.

"She can't leave me. She's always throwing herself at me. I'm just humoring her."

"Leave? Where could she possibly go?"

Meng Shuyao couldn't keep things bottled up. She flung open the curtains and stepped out, eyes red. "Cheng Yu, we're breaking up."

He just gave her a cold, indifferent smile. "Fine."

He thought she had nowhere to go. He never imagined that when Meng Shuyao left, she'd be gone for three years.

He searched everywhere, but couldn't find her.

Later, those eyes of hers, red from crying, haunted his dreams every night. He was consumed with regret, but it was too late to make amends.

The name Meng Shuyao was carved deep into his heart, hurting him like madness.
