On the surface, Feng Lixiang is an actor in a theater, wearing stage makeup. In secret, he is a member of the Red organization operating undercover in the capital.
After a mission goes wrong, Second Master Mo, a man feared throughout the capital and regarded by the people as a scourge, takes him back to the Mo residence to “recover properly.” Even Feng Lixiang can’t figure out what Second Master Mo is really up to.
So Feng Lixiang lies low in the Mo residence, intending to use him to carry out all sorts of dangerous missions.
Gradually, Feng Lixiang discovers that Second Master Mo isn’t as corrupt as he seems. In fact, there’s a deep humanity about him. Feng Lixiang’s opinion of Second Master Mo improves, until his feelings reach a point he can no longer control.
Second Master Mo presses him at every turn, backing Feng Lixiang into a corner. Just as Feng Lixiang lets down his guard and casts everything aside, he discovers that it was all a setup, a trap laid long ago. He is the most important piece on the board, and Second Master Mo is the one moving the pieces...
