Their married life was fairly harmonious, until one day.
Wearing the bespoke gown Shen Jinan had gifted her, Zhao Nian elegantly sipped the red wine he'd treasured for years. Then she held out the hand bearing the enormous diamond he'd bought at auction and handed him a divorce agreement.
"You were ten minutes late to our date last week."
"The week before that, you forgot our hundred-day wedding anniversary."
"And the week before that, you held my archrival's hand at the awards ceremony."
Shen Jinan's alarm bells went off. His heart was in turmoil, but his face remained calm and unruffled. After a moment's thought, he said, "Zaozao, the week before last was our eighty-ninth to ninety-fifth day of marriage."
Zhao Nian: "?"
After their secret marriage was exposed, they were asked when they had started dating. They gave different answers:
"After we got married."
"After high school graduation."
That night, Zhao Nian returned home from a banquet in the early hours of the morning.
The living room reeked of alcohol. In the darkness, the man pulled her into his arms and held her tight. "Didn't we agree we'd get together after the college entrance exams?"
