"Romance" is a semi-sensitive subject I've always wanted to write about. Before college, people try to avoid it as much as possible, but once they get to college, everyone starts honing their own romantic skills. The trouble is, the romance genre is currently dominated by Mary Sues and domineering CEOs. I need to find the right subject matter so I don't end up creating clichéd, obnoxious characters.
And so this rant-filled story came about. Its inspiration came from all kinds of lovestruck men and women in my orbit, both in and out of the fictional world. The story itself is based on their hilarious and adorable train wrecks as they try to copy anime and manga pickup lines and flirting tactics, only to fail spectacularly.
I'm a shut-in myself, and a fat otaku girl with negative charm to boot. This story isn't meant to mock all you hardcore fans in the real world. All I want to ask is: "Could the kind of romance you see in anime and manga actually happen in real life?"
Jiu Ke's figure may not be perfect, but when she met the boys in the activity department, she instantly wanted to know what to do next?!
