The Buddha says there are eight sufferings in this world: birth, aging, sickness, death, the cycle of rebirth,
meeting those one resents, the five skandhas, and unfulfilled desires.
Fate separates those in love, and loved ones part and grow distant.
Across the River of Forgetfulness, we wander into confusion.
The Three Lives Stone records our deluded obsession.
Then the Buddha says that beneath the Bodhi tree, watching flowers bloom and fall, one attains enlightenment.

Fated lovers part ways, and karma leads through three lifetimes.
The soul fades as sparse rain falls.

Heaven and earth are empty.
No one else can ever share your destiny.
With twin swords on our backs, we walk into the mist and rain.
