"The evening primrose, the flower of beauty, beyond the clouds, never forgotten. I ask when you will bloom: when the clouds part and the moon appears. To stay together forever, I wait for the rooster to crow. Morning dew scatters with the wind; where can your traces be found? I rein in my horse, quietly brush away my tears. Lost in thought, I am always bereft."
When the young flower grower heard this song, he could not help but feel a pang of sorrow. Many years ago, he had heard another girl singing softly in the Tan Garden, separated from him by a white silk curtain. He thought that she, the girl from his past, had returned. But deep down, he knew she was gone and could never come back. And yet she had once again fallen in love with him without hesitation. After all these years, they had met again after he thought they would miss each other, only to part once more after he thought fate had brought them together. Was the person before him the girl from his past, or someone new?
