In the second year of Xin Long's marriage, her husband died in an accident, and she was three months pregnant.
She hadn't married willingly, and she hadn't gotten pregnant willingly either. After the funeral, Xin Long made an appointment at the hospital for an abortion.
No one was supposed to know about it, but Xin Long happened to run into her husband's friend at the hospital. Before the procedure could begin, she was forcibly taken back to the Sheng family home.
Her husband's father, uncle, and older brother were all there. Like a court of three judges, they accused her of being ungrateful and unreasonable, and of refusing to keep Sheng Jing's only child.
Yet they knew perfectly well how Sheng Jing had treated her. They had all been accomplices, too.
Seeing that Xin Long would not yield to either force or persuasion, her husband's father brought out a contract. "Give birth to this child, and you can have one hundred thousand yuan a month until the child comes of age."
Her husband's older brother added, "The condition is that you can't remarry, and you have to move back into the family home."
Her husband's uncle threatened her. "If you refuse and try to get rid of the child, you can go join Sheng Jing down below."
The money was not much of a temptation, but staying alive mattered more, so Xin Long finally gave in.
As her belly grew day by day, her husband's family began looking at her more and more strangely. Then one night, someone knocked on her door. "Two hundred thousand a month. From now on, you'll be with me?"
Xin Long thought expressionlessly that the Sheng family really were all perverts. Just a few days ago, someone had offered her three million for a year.
Once she had the baby, she had better run away as soon as possible.
