Slow Down, I’m Coming with You!

Zhulong coiled atop Zhong Mountain, its human face and glaring eyes fixed on Yang Jian and Hu Baibai. Rolling thunder roared across the sky from far away, drawing closer. In an instant, the heavens and earth were swept by raging winds and clouds. The birds and beasts on the mountain lost their senses and howled along with the thunder. For a time, all of Zhong Mountain became a living hell. Yang Jian held his three-pointed, double-edged blade. The fierce wind whipped his robes, yet he stood tall beneath the thunder. Hu Baibai reverted to his true form, its nine tails raised wildly. Its four paws scraped restlessly at the ground, its sharp claws already streaked with blood. At this tense moment, Yang Jian suddenly reached out and patted Hu Baibai on the head. Smiling, he asked, "I've never asked you before. What are you working so hard to cultivate merit for?" Hu Baibai was gathering all its strength, ready to charge the instant Yang Jian gave the order. Caught off guard by the question, it froze for a moment, then shook its head and said, "To repay a kindness." Yang Jian pondered briefly. "Whose kindness?" Hu Baibai: "Li Jing, the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King. Why?" Yang Jian's handsome face darkened. Looking down at Hu Baibai from on high, he stared at it. Hu Baibai stared back, utterly bewildered. Then Yang Jian suddenly shouted, "Get out of the way! It's coming!" Years later, when Hu Baibai appeared before Heavenly King Li Jing in a formal purple-and-gold robe embroidered with coiling dragons and jade elephants, and offered its thanks with proper decorum... Heavenly King Li Jing said, "Hahaha, you've got the wrong person, little one. It was Erlang Zhenjun who lent me his pagoda to save you all back then. It had nothing to do with me. If you want to give thanks, go thank Zhenjun. I told him all this before you went to Zhong Mountain. How is it that the two of you are together every day, yet you still don't know?" Hu Baibai: "..." It really had no idea. QAQ
