The Years Trilogy, Book One: The Arctic

This story has three parts: The Arctic, Warm Breeze, and the Equator. They tell of three different kinds of men and their attitudes toward love, friendship, and life.

The protagonist of The Arctic is the gong, a cold and aloof man with a bit of a cleanliness obsession. He is a boss-level figure. The shou is easygoing, but deeply scarred by his broken family, and likes to keep people at a distance. He hates his father to the core.

The two meet on a snowy New Year’s Eve. The gong is rushing to his girlfriend’s house for the reunion dinner and nearly hits the shou, who is walking along the road in a daze. Thus begins their fateful connection.
