Weibo: I Don't Want to Leave You Hanging

After Ji Zexiu returned to China with the “Gold Brick Award,” a reporter asked him, “Winning such a prestigious award, the Oscars of architecture, must be an incredible honor. At the awards ceremony, you said your design philosophy over the years has been to make buildings feel like they belong somewhere. Could you explain why you've always held to this philosophy?”

Ji Zexiu: “The official answer is that I want to show the world the brilliance that emerges when China's traditions meet the present.”

The host smiled. “And the unofficial answer?”

Ji Zexiu: “I studied architecture because I loved someone who did. Now she's finally my wife, so every building I design feels like it belongs somewhere.”
