Prologue

The Sky-Opening Divine Axe trembled faintly in his hands. Chenxiang sensed something was wrong.

Yang Jian's body had already fallen straight down. He didn't plunge into the stream, nor did blood burst forth. Instead, he turned into endless ashes that scattered between heaven and earth. His soul had vanished, leaving not a trace behind.

Suddenly, Chenxiang found himself missing that summer when the grass was lush and orioles darted through the air. Yang Jian had stood by the water, smiling as he slowly fastened a golden lock around Chenxiang's neck.

May you live a hundred years, free from all worry.

The stream was bitterly cold. Wildflowers bloomed brightly between the cracks in the rocks.

Chenxiang calmly picked up the axe. It was time to split the mountain.
