When He Ran was sixteen, he developed anorexia. The only thing that could save him was the beautiful promise Bai Chen dangled before him, but that promise had already been made to someone else. With no other choice, He Ran followed Bai Chen, drawing himself more and more impossible promises to stave off hunger, longing for what he couldn't have.
Then one day, He Ran vanished. It took a long, long time for Bai Chen to realize something was wrong. He turned to look for him, only for someone else to tell him that the fool had starved to death long ago.
Bai Chen had imagined countless ways he might meet He Ran again. Maybe at the dessert shop He Ran loved most, maybe at the bar he visited most often, or perhaps on some unfamiliar street corner. Ideally, it would be a sunny day, though a little rain would be fine too. But Bai Chen never imagined that five years later, the two of them would meet again through an organ transplant form.
