I simply want to make an old dream come true with these rusty fingertips before the day I look in the mirror and suddenly notice the wrinkles. I don’t want to look back with regret one day and say, “My dreams finally blossomed when I was already old.” I just want to shut out the noise and, with clear eyes, watch the little girl who once played with her childhood sweetheart and the boy who rode beside her on a bamboo horse. They met too early, and sadly, you went left while I went right. Forced to run as they grew up, they kept coming to crossroads. Novelty and excitement are always irresistible. Once we thought we knew which way to go, we suddenly grew up overnight, realizing there were so many choices in this world and learning the sadness of having no one to share our dreams with once they came true. Life wore away my edges, and your face grew ever more indistinct. We went from being inseparable to drifting farther and farther apart. Only when I looked back did I learn that there is a kind of pain called passing each other by. I took many roads and detours, thinking I had put you behind me, yet you remained in the softest, warmest place in my heart. Whether I was sad or happy, whenever I lowered my head, I would think of you. I couldn’t cast you aside or forget you. From walking side by side to passing each other by, how could I cast away that regret? How could I forget it? And then? Well, to put it plainly, time rolls on and youth grows old. At last, I understood that there is no eternal sea that becomes a mulberry field, nor a mulberry field that goes on forever. Happiness is simply the quiet way I looked in your eyes as you smiled at me many years ago. I experienced all the joys and sorrows of life, thinking I could never return to the road I had left behind. But when I set foot on it once more, was the person coming toward me around the corner you...?
Sweet and sour, that’s the taste of youth. Who can be young without acting recklessly? Who has never soared in pursuit of a dream? Follow the exquisite strokes of Riguang’s pen and look back on the most beautiful part of a life. Let it mingle with heartache and with moving memories. Only each of us can know its true taste.
Yun Ao
Riguang’s account of Jiang Li and Huaxia is as beautiful as a past washed clean by a morning rain in Weicheng. Those trivial days hold something familiar for everyone, in one way or another. Once we grow up, they become the kind of pain we once dismissed as nothing out of the ordinary.
Fang Zheng
Once, our youthful, soaring hearts drifted wherever they pleased, without a home. Once, our innocent first loves bloomed and faded like ephemerals, leaving only withered petals behind. Once, we swam through the sea of time, only to discover that the shores of youth had become barren... Ah, those lost beautiful days were like a certain belief held by Huaxia: we clung to it so steadfastly, unaware that we had quietly stopped searching for it.

That snowy winter night, you took my hand and said, “I want to hold your hand and grow old with you.” Even the dazzling halo of the streetlamp on the snow that day has finally become the loveliest memory buried deep in my heart. Looking back now, those years long gone yet somehow still unfolding must be what people call a riot of color.

Riguang, please keep writing with conviction. Write down the sadness, regrets, and helplessness in so many hearts. Write down the beautiful feelings we once had, half-understood yet given everything we had. Let us remember.
Shu Mo
On a night when your whole body aches, your heart feels numb, and your mind is blank, or in the restless, uneasy hours before dawn when you wake with a start, make yourself a cup of hot, sweet lemon water. Sip it slowly, turn on your computer, and let Riguang take you back to the days of childhood sweethearts.

As they mature, they are bound to slowly lose one another. That’s more or less inevitable. Reading the author’s note, I can’t help thinking that youth is something to remember, but also a kind of sin. It breaks your own heart, makes others cry, and lets all the beautiful things of the past slip away... But what can you hold on to?

Not every childhood sweetheart naturally and inevitably ends up spending a lifetime together. Sometimes there is only an inexpressible bewilderment and helplessness, like knowing a piece of candy is sweet but being too afraid of cavities to eat it. Once a relationship becomes a habit, it’s hard to find the courage to break that pattern, even if all it takes is a single sentence.
Ye Banxia
The bond between childhood sweethearts means you know him and understand him, and like him a little, but haven’t yet fallen in love. Then someone else comes along and takes the place you’re used to seeing him in, and suddenly you feel uncomfortable and at a loss. You start feeling out of sorts and panicking, but you can’t figure out why. The only reasonable explanation is that you’ve been in love for years.

Guangguang, do you know how many people see themselves in Huaxia? Maybe you, maybe me.
Niannian
Reading the scenes in Guangguang’s books always makes me pound my chest in frustration. Why didn’t I have someone to argue with when I was little? Why wasn’t there someone to face my pain with me, build snowmen with me, or talk about this or that game with me? There are so many regrets. I can always find a kind of fulfillment in Riguang’s stories, even if those things never happened to me.

I feel that Huaxia and Fuzhou’s relationship has lost a lot of its freshness and excitement, but what has taken its place is maturity and devotion through thick and thin. Their life together seems plain and unremarkable, yet it fills me with warmth.

Their sweet love is so enviable. Like the dazzling, colorful youth in Secret, it must be something no one could easily forget.

It's so amazing. I didn't know how I came across the author's article back then. I even bought a physical book, but the author seems to have stopped writing. I will always remember Fan Fuzhou's name, as well as China's excellence and habit of cleaning shoes.
I really like Hua Xia, and Li Wei never gives up at the end. I read this story a long time ago, and now I am re-reading it. I still like it, but it's not so heartbreaking because I'm sure it's HE. I love HE! ! !
Huanghuang, you have been in New York, you should know that NYU and Columbia are very close in the election... Does this BUG need to be fixed?
Youth is so awkward
The man came riding a bamboo horse, the man came riding a bamboo horse. Watching these two children struggling, I felt happy or sad all the time. Finally, I finally figured it out!
My boyfriend, at my explicit suggestion, came to see me these past two days and, uh, skipped school. We have been together since our sophomore year in high school and have never broken up. I am also very surprised, why do others break up and get back together? Huanghuang said that if those relationships back then would never break up now, maybe it's because my boyfriend is too mature. He has had several girlfriends in high school and he already knows how to cherish and tolerate them. I don't know what the future holds, but I hope we will still be there after all the hardships have passed. Love this story. Bright young people, persistent love, between childishness, immaturity and maturity, achieve each other's best youth. Thank you Huanghuang~
Haha~~Perfection~~Obviously it can only be Li Wei~~
After reading this last chapter, I finally couldn't help crying. If I could ask why back then, it would definitely not be what it is now. By the time he came back to me, I already had someone else. Life is really not perfect. I really regret it. I should have mustered up all the courage to ask why. If I find the answer, even if it is not the answer I want, I will not regret it in the future.
Make up points! Beautiful love! Wonderful life! Everyone is alive and everyone loves it!
I also like Li Wei, a bit disgusting with Hua Xia's character, a true childhood sweetheart's love
Dad, let Bi Jing and An An be together, and give this poor kid a home. . . He is already so smart, there is no need to find a girlfriend as smart as Xia Xia. . . Bi Jing is dumber than Guan Xin, is that just her?
I know what I brought in was wrong. . . I just want to realize the dream of being loved by a stupid and smart Prince Charming. . .
