[The King's Avatar] A Lamp for Ten Years

Huang Shaotian felt that he had slept far too long.

Ten years in a dream of Yangzhou, and in that dream he was still a keen-edged swordsman. When he woke, he was already thirty.

So long that the great heroes who once shook the Nine Provinces had all retired, becoming legends.

Every swordsman in the world dressed alike: a blue robe, a long sword at the waist, its patterns elaborate and its sword aura icy.

The very attire of the Sword Saint in days gone by.

The legend of a single sword chilling fourteen provinces was still being told, and the river by the tower still flowed east.

In a brown robe, with a rusty sword, Huang Shaotian led a little donkey through the woods and mountains, clanking and swaying as he went.

When he had righted every wrong in the world and the spring breeze turned the southern riverbanks green, he would go back.

Back to the light that had shone for him for ten years, and would shine forever.
