The flowers on the far shore bloom for a thousand years and wither for a thousand years. Flower and leaf never meet. Love is not bound by cause and effect; fate decrees life and death.
When the flowers on the far shore bloom, they are a blaze of red. Flowers bloom without leaves, and leaves grow without flowers. They yearn for and cherish each other, yet can never meet, each alone on the road to the far shore.
Among the flowers scattered from heaven are four kinds: Mandarava, Mahamandarava, Manjusaka, and Mahamanjusaka. At that time, the heavens rained down Mandarava, Mahamandarava, Manjusaka, and Mahamanjusaka flowers, scattering them upon the Buddha and the assembled multitude.
